FAQ

What is the cheapest way to travel in Lagos Life?
Walking is free but slow; danfo buses are the cheapest paid ride and the city's signature yellow experience. Fares are not fixed — governor laws can move them while active, so check the fare before you board during an election week.
How do I travel to Abuja or Port Harcourt?
Fly. Intercity flights depart from MMIA in Ikeja with a choice of cabin class and optional travel insurance, per community reports of the booking flow. Land routes exist too, but flights are the documented long-distance option.
Should I buy a car?
Cars are sold at Polanco Motors and free you from per-trip fares, but the purchase only pays off once you commute daily — typically for a settled career. Early game, danfo money is rent money.

Every trip in Lagos Life costs one of two currencies — Naira or game minutes — and the game’s traffic system makes the trade-off real: the fast option is not always the fast option. Six official modes plus the intercity flight network cover everything.

What transport options exist?

The official app listing names six modes:

Mode Cost Speed Notes
Walking Free Slowest Fine inside one district
Danfo Cheap fare Moderate, traffic-dependent The classic yellow bus
Keke Cheap fare Moderate Tricycle; also a career in Abuja
Okada Mid fare Fast Bike; weaves through jams
Taxi Higher fare Fast Comfort at a price
Own car Big one-time buy Fast Polanco Motors; no per-trip fare

Traffic is a real system, not decoration — a jammed route can make the okada the rational choice over a taxi, and the map labels gridlock directly (“Serious go-slow”). Base fares we captured in-game on 11 October 2026, from the travel panel of a Yaba home:

Mode Base fare Notes
Trek (walk) Free Slowest; fine within one district
Keke ₦150 Tricycle
Danfo ₦150 The yellow bus — same price, more Lagos
Okada ₦250 Bike; the jam-breaker
Cab (taxi) ₦750 Rush-hour surcharge applies

During rush hour the panel warns that cab fares are up — check the fare on screen before you board during an election week, because governor laws can move prices while they are active (below).

Streets of Yaba on foot — walking is free, and district life happens around you

How do governor laws change travel costs?

The official app listing is explicit: weekly governor elections affect fares, salaries and prices. In practice that means a new law week can move your commute bill before your next shift — during the documented “steady light” week, power policy was the headline law. How the election cycle works end to end is covered in governor elections and the CBN; what changed this week is in the update tracker.

How do intercity flights work?

Three cities exist — Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt — and you can live and work in any of them. Community reports of the booking flow describe:

  • Departures from MMIA, Ikeja (also the Aviation and Airport Staff career venue).
  • A choice of cabin class on flights.
  • Optional travel insurance at booking.

Moving cities re-opens the housing ladder there — pair a move with homes and rent and check that your target career actually operates in the destination (jobs by city).

Should I buy a car at Polanco Motors?

A car ends per-trip fares but the buy-in is serious money early on. The rule of thumb from commute economics:

  • Commute daily for a career (one shift a game day, most days) — the car starts paying for itself in saved fares and saved minutes.
  • Play short sessions or hop districts rarely — stay on danfo and keke; the difference is rent.

What is the fastest way across town?

Within a district: walk. Across districts in normal traffic: okada. Across districts in a jam: still okada — that is its whole identity. For dates, clients and rent-day emergencies where comfort or reliability matters: taxi. And for the airport run before a flight, leave a buffer; MMIA sits in Ikeja, far from the island.
