How Do You Make Time Go Faster in Lagos Life? What Actually Works

Lagos Life has no time skip or fast-forward — the clock runs live. What works instead: free will, sleeping at home, the Power Napper perk and shift planning.

Every player asks it sooner or later: the shift starts in two hours, the gem hunt resets at midnight, and the game will not let you click “skip”. So — how do you make time go faster in Lagos Life? You don’t. There is no fast-forward control, no time-skip item, no speed setting. But the game’s clock has quirks that feel almost as good once you know them, and some of the “time hacks” advertised online will cost you your account. Here is how time actually works, tested in the game client in October 2026.

The short answer

  • There is no way to speed up, skip or rewind time. The world clock runs on its own schedule and keeps running when you log off.
  • Logging off is the closest thing to a time skip. Needs recover, shifts get attended and businesses pay out while you are away — the sim keeps living without you.
  • There are no cheat codes at all, so every “time hack” download is a scam by definition. The game’s scam landscape is documented here.

How time actually works: three clocks

Our test sessions mapped three separate clocks moving at once. None of them has a player-facing control.

  1. The action clock — everything you do costs time. Cooking a meal, taking a danfo across the island, working a shift: the in-game clock advances while the action plays out.
  2. The shift clock — work runs on a schedule, roughly 06:00 to 21:59 on workdays. Miss the window and the shift is gone; your character commutes automatically if auto-work is on.
  3. The cooldown clock — certain actions (claiming daily rewards, repeating venue activities) lock until a timer expires. This one appears to track real-world time, though we are still confirming that with longer sessions.
Why the clocks matter more than any 'speed trick'

Because the clocks are the game’s economy. Daily missions expire on the clock, businesses settle every evening around 6 PM, land yields compound weekly and Reserve Bonds mature after 7 days. Planning around those schedules beats any imagined speed hack — there is nothing to hack.

The closest thing to a time skip: log off

Lagos Life does not pause when you leave. The world clock keeps ticking, and with Free will enabled (it ships on by default) your character keeps living: sleeping, washing, eating at home and picking its own entertainment. With Go automatically checked on the job card, a danfo even collects your character for work shifts.

One overnight session in our testing ended with the wallet about ₦266,000 lighter than at logout — the sim had kept spending off-screen. We are still tracing every naira, so treat unattended nights as convenient but not free.

The Sim panel’s Needs tab — Energy recovering while Hunger and Hygiene wait for the next home visit

The full mechanics — what the sim does and does not do alone — are in our free will and idle play guide.

Make the clock work for you

These are verified, legitimate levers that solve the problem people actually mean by “making time go faster”:

  • Sleep at home. Our character recovered from 26 to 100 Energy in about 90 seconds of autonomous sleep. Sleeping costs a little Hygiene (around 14 points — you wake up sweaty), so shower after.
  • Stay home while recovering. A home is a near-freeze zone: with stats maxed, four minutes of idling cost just 1 Hygiene and 1 Bladder.
  • Take the Power Napper perk. It makes sleep restore 30% more Energy, which compounds with every bedtime.
  • Plan around the reset, not against it. The daily gem hunt resets at midnight Lagos time, and business payouts land around 6 PM. Schedule your session around those anchors instead of waiting them out.
  • In jail, pay the bail. Waiting out a cell sentence is a real mechanic — sleeping on the mat, playing cards with cellmates — but Pay Bail ends it immediately if the time is worth more than the Naira.

The takeaway

You cannot bend the clock in Lagos Life — and that is the design. The game wants your tomorrow to matter, which is why land compounds weekly and bonds mature after seven days. Set up your free will, sleep at home, take Power Napper and log off; the fastest time skip in Lagos Life is closing the tab.

FAQ

Can you skip time in Lagos Life?
No. The game has no fast-forward button, time-skip item or speed setting — we have never seen one across our October 2026 test sessions, and the official accounts have never announced one. The clock keeps running on its own, even while you are offline.
Does Lagos Life run in real time?
Close to it. Actions consume in-game time, work shifts run to a schedule (06:00–21:59 on workdays), and the world clock keeps ticking while you are logged off — one of our overnight sessions ended with the wallet about ₦266,000 lighter from off-screen activity. Logging off and coming back later is the closest thing to a time skip.
What is the fastest way to recover energy?
Sleep at home with Free will on — our character went from 26 to 100 Energy in about 90 seconds of autonomous sleep. The Power Napper perk makes sleep restore 30% more Energy, and staying home also slows needs decay to almost nothing.
Are Lagos Life time-skip hacks real?
No. There is no time skip to hack, and every 'speed hack', modified APK or time-cheat tool sold for Lagos Life is a scam or an account-stealer. The game has no cheat codes at all — see our guide to scams and fake apps.
