Lagos Life Daily Gem Hunt: Clues, Reset Time and Rewards
How the Daily Gem Hunt works: one clue a day, where to read it, when it resets (midnight Lagos time), and what the fastest finders take home.
One clue a day, one gem hidden in one place, and a countdown that resets the whole thing at midnight Lagos time. The Daily Gem Hunt is the game’s daily-login hook — free to enter, quick to finish, and the most reliable repeatable Naira outside your actual job. This page explains the rules, the reset, the rewards and how to actually read the clues — plus how to actually pick the gem up, which is the part most players fumble. If you are brand new and still choosing a first job, the first-week walkthrough gets the rest of your routine going first.
How the hunt works
Three steps, the same every day:
- Read the clue. The Daily gem hunt button — it sits in the side-button stack once you are in the gem’s area — opens a panel with a single riddle-style clue: a poetic hint at one specific place in the city.
- Go there. The panel’s own instruction: “Work out where it is, go there, and it sparkles.” Clues lean on landmark names and neighbourhood geography, so it pays to know the map — the locations guide is the cheat sheet.
- Pick up the gem. Stand in the right spot and a pickup card appears on screen — “Something is sparkling here! Tap to pick it up.” Tap the card: your name joins the day’s finder list, the reward lands in your balance, and the countdown starts toward the next gem. The card is the fiddly part — the section below is the difference between five minutes and five nights.
How to actually pick the gem up
This is where most attempts die, so it gets its own section. The gem has no map marker and no button waiting for you at the venue — it is invisible until you are standing close enough, and “close enough” is smaller than you think.
The mechanic, verified in-game on 19 October 2026 at the University of Lagos (gem #6572):
- Ride to the venue the clue names.
- Walk the venue — along its buildings, stalls and stands. When you cross into the pickup radius, a card pops onto the screen: “Something is sparkling here! Tap to pick it up · ₦3,000.”
- Tap the card itself. It vanishes, your balance jumps by the prize, and the side chip flips to “Gem found · #N — New gem in Xh Ym.” That chip is your receipt.
Our own ledger is the cautionary tale: four nights in a row we stood “at the venue” at midnight and saw nothing, because we never crossed into the radius. The fifth night, the card was already on screen when we stopped walking. Walking is the hunt; the tap is just the receipt.
When your Sim won’t walk at all: the sick lock
One failure mode looks exactly like “bad luck finding the radius” but isn’t: taps on the road do nothing, in any direction, at any venue — while rides still work fine. That is not the radius. That is your Sim being sick. A Sick — and worse, a Very Sick — Sim loses walking outright, and no amount of tapping brings it back.
The fix is a hospital trip, and the irony is that you can still ride there while sick:
- Ride to the General Hospital (Ikeja side of the map).
- Tap the Doctor spot inside — the hospital is split into numbered spots (Reception, Doctor, Pharmacy, Ward, waiting area).
- Pay for “See a Doctor · Get an Injection” — a flat ₦8,000, and the treatment also tops up Energy. Walking returns the moment the injection lands; no recovery wait.
We paid for this lesson twice: two consecutive hunt nights lost to a standstill Sim before the status chip — “Very sick · see a doctor” — finally got read. The night after the injection, the desk walked into the pickup radius at Freedom Park on the first pass and collected gem #503. If your hunt suddenly feels cursed, check the health chip before you check the map.

When it resets
Midnight Lagos time — 23:00 UTC. Every hunt carries an explicit end timestamp, and we have watched it roll over: the day’s clue and gem expire together, and a new pair takes their place immediately. Practical version: the hunt you see in the evening is the last chance for that day, and the fresh clue lands while most of Lagos is asleep.
Reading the clues
The clues are riddles written for people who know the city. A real example, from 15 October 2026:
“Shhh. Where pages turn quietly on the Island.”
That decodes as: something quiet, something with pages, on Lagos Island — the library. The pieces are always the same shape: an activity or mood (“pages turn quietly”), and a geographic anchor (“the Island”). When a clue resists, split it that way first: name the activity, name the area, then match the pair against the venue list.
A few patterns we have noticed:
- Mood words point at venues. Quiet → library or parks; loud or rowdy → the stadium, nightlife strips or markets.
- Geography is literal. “The Island” means Lagos Island side, “the Mainland” the opposite — the same way locals use the words.
- Places, not people. Every clue so far resolves to a fixed venue, not an NPC or a moving target.
What the rewards look like
The prize ladder is posted on the hunt panel itself — verified in-game on 15 October 2026:
| Position | Prize |
|---|---|
| 1st finder | ₦50,000 |
| 2nd–3rd | ₦25,000 |
| 4th–10th | ₦10,000 |
| Everyone after | ₦3,000 |
The side button tracks the live numbers: on our check, 6,262 players had found the gem with the next prize down at ₦3,000, and the panel lists the day’s first finders by name.

The economics are simple: it is free money on a daily timer, and early beats good — but even the floor prize is real pocket money. Fold it into whichever route you run in the money-making guide and it quietly covers a meaningful slice of an early-game budget — rent weeks included (see the rent guide).
Is it worth building a routine around?
Yes, with the right expectations. The gem will not make you rich — late finders collect pocket change — but as a daily habit it is the best ratio in the game: a minute of reading, one trip, guaranteed payout. Pair it with your shift schedule and the weekly law cycle (fares move — the transport guide tracks them) and the small edges compound.
The hunt also changes fast enough that we keep an eye on it: if the reward structure or the reset moves, that lands in the update tracker with a date, the same way every other official change does. Every past riddle is on the record too — the Clue Ledger files each day’s clue with the place it pointed to, so you can study how the riddles are written before tonight’s drops.
